Anxiety Treatment Center in Sacramento, CA

Everyone experiences some anxiety. It’s a natural reaction to being in a stressful, embarrassing or dangerous situation. In some cases, it may even be a helpful response, allowing people to stay on their toes and notice details they might otherwise miss. But for nearly 20% of Americans, anxiety goes well beyond an occasional feeling.

For those who deal with an anxiety disorder, even everyday actions like leaving the house, socializing with friends or driving to work can send their nervous system into overdrive. And when it starts affecting their ability to live their lives, it may be time to consider care for anxiety.

Diamond House is Sacramento, CA’s location for residential and outpatient anxiety treatment. Our anxiety disorder treatment center provides our clients with a soothing reprieve from the anxieties in their life so they can focus on healing and developing the skills they need to thrive.

Common Anxiety Treatment Programs

Since anxiety can flare up for any number of reasons, there are just as many treatment options. Diamond House offers many of these proven therapies, including:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): During CBT, clients are encouraged to examine their thought patterns and develop new, healthy responses. It also focuses on finding effective coping strategies to turn to when your anxiety begins to overwhelm you.
  • Eye movement and desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapy: EMDR is a type of trauma therapy that uses rhythmic eye movements to help clients process traumatic events and work through emotionally charged memories.
  • Trauma therapy: One of the most common symptoms of trauma is anxiety, and to remedy the anxiety, one has to work through the underlying trauma. Trauma therapies offer different modalities for clients to process their trauma in a safe space and consider healthy coping mechanisms to help them through flashbacks and the surrounding anxiety these memories can bring.
  • Art therapy: Everyone expresses themselves differently, and for some people, talk therapy is not the most effective form of communication. We offer art therapy to let our clients experiment with expression and show themselves through new modalities.
  • Group therapy: Group therapy gives you the chance to connect with other clients in the mental health program and hear about their experiences. We’ve found this therapy often allows our clients to gain a new perspective of their situation and feel supported by the community they’re a part of.
  • Psychiatric care: With severe anxiety, therapy may work best when combined with prescription medication. Our on-site Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will meet with you and your treatment team regularly to prescribe medication and monitor its effects.

Why Consider Treatment for You or Your Loved One?

When anxiety starts taking over someone’s life, it can lead to so much more than nervousness and isolation. When they’re unaware of available treatment options, they may find ways to self-medicate, such as using alcohol or drugs. However, this can ultimately worsen symptoms. Over time, people may feel like their anxiety is endless and inescapable, leading to a breakdown of relationships, self-harm or even suicidal thoughts and actions.

That’s why getting treatment as soon as possible is crucial for healing from and learning to live with anxiety. If you’re considering treatment options for yourself or someone you love, start by:

  • Educating yourself: There are many forms of anxiety, and everyone experiences them differently. Get the facts about anxiety and its treatment possibilities so you can better identify these signs in yourself and the people around you.
  • Reaching out for help: No one needs to go through mental health struggles alone. Whether you talk to someone you trust or an experienced professional, making someone else aware of your situation can ease the burden and make every step after a bit easier.
