Medically Assisted Detox

Quitting drugs and alcohol is essential to sobriety, but many find it difficult because of the intensity of withdrawal symptoms experienced while your body detoxes. That’s why it’s crucial to seek out medically assisted detox programs like Diamond House Detox. Our team is staffed by those with medical experience, both in the fields of addiction treatment and psychiatry. This is to ensure we can help you through the detoxification process in comfort and safety, no matter what your needs may be. The main way we do this is by providing customized treatment that’s tailored to fit the needs of the individual patient.

Psychiatric Evaluation and Treatment

During your time at Diamond House Detox, you will receive an in-depth psychiatric evaluation performed by either a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or a Psychiatrist. This assessment helps us diagnose any developmental, behavioral, emotional or medical conditions that may have contributed to your substance use. For some patients, mental health disorders may have remained undiagnosed because of addiction. When these two factors coincide, we call it a co-occurring disorder. Some of the most common psychiatric issues we encounter include:

  • Anxiety
  • Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder

Medication Assisted Treatment

When a patient has a co-occurring disorder, we have the ability to address mental health symptoms with medication. Other detox clinics require clients to have medicines prescribed by an outside provider beforehand. However, during the detox process at our clinics, we customize medications to the unique needs of the individual and their symptoms as they arise.

Our tailor designed programs also specialize in using medications for detoxification purposes. If a patient is experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms, in some cases, we can mitigate these with the assistance of medication. And with a psychiatric nurse practitioner on site, all therapy of this kind can be utilized as our guests need them. The use of medication is not included in the cost of treatment.

Therapy Sessions

Although the focus of your time at our clinic is getting all drugs and alcohol out of your system, you may also have the opportunity to participate in therapy as well. We offer individual, group and trauma therapy sessions to those we feel would benefit from them. A licensed therapist specializing in addiction will meet with you and help you identify areas that will assist your recovery process. We also can arrange for you to see a trauma therapist to aid you in dealing with any emotional trauma you may have experienced.

Chronic Pain Management

Unfortunately, the use of opiates for pain relief can lead to addiction. In fact, five percent of those who use this form of medication to help deal with chronic pain for over a year become addicted. As the body builds up a tolerance to opiates, the risk of dependency rises, requiring patients to use higher doses of these substances to deal with the pain.

If you find yourself addicted to prescription pain medication, opiate detoxification is essential so that your body can break its dependence. However, many people avoid detox because they’re afraid they’ll be left in pain with no relief. The staff at Diamond House Detox understands this fear and will make every effort to find you alternative pain relief as you go through the detox process.
